I've heard from a number of people regarding Hollander's since putting up my website. Between the folks who've asked for their money back and the ones who have avoided the company completely, I'd estimate that it has cost them at least twenty (that's 20 ) times the revenue they got from me. I wonder if it was worth it?
Below is the latest unhappy consumer...
I wrote you a while back. I signed on with Hollander in January and tried to pull out when I found out about them. Let me give you an update. I immediately placed the charges in dispute with Visa. Visa is still considering the matter however things don't look great because Hollander has a no refund clause in its contract ( I took that to mean that I couldn't sit through all their classes then ask for my money back. I guess it is easy for dishonest people to cheat honest people.)
My attorney has written both Hollander and Visa and has received no response from Hollander. My phone calls have not been returned. On June 5th I went to Hollanders office and demanded a refund. I was strong armed into Larry Silvers office, the walls of which are lined with volumes on Scientology, Scientology law and Dianetics. The desk contained letters from the Church of Scientology. I was placed under guard by the toughest guy they could find at the time. The man did his best to intimidate me by staring me down. I'm sure this would have been scary for a smaller person than me.
Eventually I was blessed with the presence of Fred King, the Vice President of Hollander. Fred gave it a good try but it is hard for a man that flabby to pull off a tough guy act. When the act failed Fred danced through a comical litany of L. Ron's mind control techniques the most bizarre of which was asking me if I grew up in Oregon and then telling me " As an Oregonian you should be ashamed of yourself." I was unimpressed. After I repeatedly asked Fred to return my purloined money he grew frustrated and told me the truth. That was " Your money is gone. You bought a line of bullshit and should be ashamed. Go talk to my lawyer. Go talk to my lawyer. Go talk to my lawyer."
I returned to Hollander on June 11th to demand my money. This time they found a big goon to watch me. Fred waddled out to the waiting room as fast as he could and told me he had a restraining order against me. (This of course was false. No order had been applied for, nor would one be granted. The legal system in Oregon is flawed but not corrupt.) Fred called the police to have me charged with trespass
( nobody likes a debt collector) While I was waiting for the police to arrive I told Fred I wanted my money. He responded by saying "You are not getting your money back and this is going to cost you a lot more." Curious about this threat I asked him to elaborate. Fred told me I scared his staff and upset him and that I would be sued. I received a letter from his attorney the next day telling me never to visit or call the office again or I would be arrested for harassment. He was not clear on how I was to receive the services for which I have been charged.
My next step is to go to the attorney generals office. If possible I would like for the attorney general to be able to contact you. Any phone numbers or e-mail addresses you could give me would be helpful."
Hard to see how they'll justify keeping his money and denying him the services he's paid for--but I'm sure L. Ron has some 'Rundown' to cover it somewhere. More as it comes in .
