I joined the Church of Scientology while married to my first wife, actress Mimi Rogers, from 1987-1990.

I suddenly divorced my second wife, Nicole Kidman, in February of 2001. This had nothing to do with that California law. (If it could be proved that she and I were together for 10 years or more, we'd have to divide the assets of our marriage equally.) We had decided to split, it was just a coincidence. When she told the press it was a shock that I filed for divorce, it was a mistake--she just forgot the date.

It also had nothing to do with all those interviews where Nic said she wasn't a Scientologist. Absolutely nothing.
