Let me expand on a point I have been trying to make; and I do so with the knowledge that few will agree.
If you are going to take on another, you better try to understand them from THEIR point of view, if you are going to look for weak points. Yes, this is not entirely needed to do this but it helps. And it is something that cannot be done within the RTC/OSA ranks. They cannot get the point of view of a "suppressive" because they reject it. They no more want to understand an SP than Nazis wanted to understand Jews. SPs/Jews are vermin and criminals because the founder/leader has told them so.
That is where you/we have an advantage over those who claim to "know how to know" (Hubbard's definition of Scientology. We are free to understand them. By being able to see their strengths, we can see their weaknesses. To the RTC/OSA mind, there is nothing to know, except what the PIs will find out that might be able to be used to blackmail, extort, threaten or to use in some other wog-like fashion. But truly understanding the other side? No need to. Just "find their crimes." And they do it because Hubbard said to do it because that is how you beat an SP.
Now to my point. The greatest "strength" that they have is their weakness. It is called "100% Standard Tech." It is their strength because it is the core of their belief. 100% Standard Tech means that if Hubbard's methods are applied correctly, they work 100% of the time. Not 99%. 100%. Thus the corralary is that if it is not working, then the fault is in the person applying it. They are not doing it right. Thus the test for if they are doing it right is if it gets the intended result.
"Standard Admin" is what Hubbard called the application of "standard tech" to the green on white issues. While the red on white issues were intended for use with an individual (through auditing) the green on white were to be the "tech" for the Third Dynamic or society.
Those who move onto the RTC/OSA echelons are keenly interested in green on white. They want to make a difference in society and they believe that Hubbard's methods are the most effective to do it and the tool is POLICY, his green on white issues. The staff member is hammered constantly about doing it "standardly," which is the whole point of KSW, "Keeping Scientology Working."
Now if Scientology/Hubbard technology doesn't work, then what's the point? That is where people like Wollersheim and Armstrong and every other long-term critic can create a nagging doubt. For example, if there were a PC who kept red-tagging (Scientology term meaning that the session went bad) for a month, there would be hell to pay. It would mean that they hadn't found the "why" and gotten it corrected. Now let's imagine the PC is red-tagging for a year. 5 years. 10 years. Every CS fails. Every auditor fails. Every ethics officer who looks for some external reason fails. How does one feel about the tech? Apply that to Wollersheim, Armstrong and the critics who have been in the face of RTC/OSA for YEARS. Why haven't they "shattered" as Hubbard promised? Why haven't they pulled in horrible motivators and died of drug overdoses or AIDS? How can they continue in the face of "standard tech/admin"? Make this a question asked in the head of an RTC/OSA staff member and not yours and let it spin around for a few months while your seniors are battering you about "100% standard tech" and then you begin to see. If the staff member holds to the idea that there IS standard tech and that it SHOULD work, then the question becomes, why isn't it working? Who is not applying it correctly? Etc.
That is why the RTC/OSA staff members are the weakest link. The propaganda that is fed to the general membership to show how Scientology is continuing to win and expand on all fronts comes from RTC/OSA. But they are the ones who know the truth. They are the ones who know the actual threat in country X, Y and Z. Or the threat of that newest motion made in court. They are also the ones who know what the true gross income is and can watch the emergency trends. They are the ones who must pull out the "good news" to placate the membership, hiding the disasters and giving them a spin that would NEVER be allowed on THEIR report lines. (One could go to the RPF or the decks for such internal PR. It is reserved for the naive membership who eat it up and believe it.)
I would venture to guess that at least 90% of the RTC/OSA staff who blow (suddenly leave) do so because of this conflict of realities. Many even leave as dedicated Scientologists. They just cannot take how it is being done. That's even why there is a Free Zone. It has people who believe the organization is not applying "standard tech."
Want to know what will always gall the RTC/OSA staff most about Wollersheim and Armstrong and the others? Just that they are there. TR-O. They are there. They won't go away. And each time they are reminded of it, each time they show up, it is another straw on the back of some poor staff member who one day will not be able to take any more and will walk.
